    E-STELLAR!

by wolly on 5/10/10Colonial Theatre - Boston

My third time seeing this multifaceted, many-layered play..............Three hours fliy by, and all of a sudden no one wants this story to end. There is no one, and I mean No ONE who cannot relate to some or all parts of this story...........a treat for all time. My thanks to the cast for giving me the opportunity to spend some time in August Osage County

Very long -- but most worthwhile

by JLNB on 5/10/10Colonial Theatre - Boston

I had not anticipated being in the theatre from 7:30 pm till after 11 pm, BUT, amazingly, my attention never wavered over the 3 acts of this play. I found it thoroughly engrossing and dramatically rewarding. The superb acting by an ensemble cast just added to the theatrical joy of this play and its superb production. What does astound me is the very sparse audience. I could hardly believe that this play that earned so many acdcoaldes and awards and that ran on Braodway for over a year would not draw a larger audience in Boston. I believe that serious Boston theatre-goers missed a wonderful display of the joys that live theatre, with a great cast, superb production and a well-written moving play, can offer.

Fastest 3 hours at a play i can ever remember, Characters were absolutely fantastic, never a dull moment in the play, would highly recommend it. it as sad, tragic, humourous, sarcastic, all the ingredients of an American family, sad to say.

    Awesome play

by OccasionalAttendee on 5/9/10Colonial Theatre - Boston

Yet another play about a severely dysfunctional family, but it's full of laughs (and not in a mean way) and lots of surprises. Excellent performances by the whole cast - well worth seeing.

Great story and cast. If it were here longer, I'd send a dozen friends to see it.

AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY lived up to the hype. I have been trying to see this play for a year and it was worth the wait. It reminded me of the family saga dramas of the 1950's. It was also brilliantly staged. The set was perfect and most of the acting was too. I took two friends who do not attend non-musicals as often as I do. They were very pleased and entertained. We all saw a little of our own family drama in this drama, that's for sure.

    Boring, boring, boring...

by Anonymous on 5/6/10Colonial Theatre - Boston

I have no idea how this play won a Tony and a Pulitzer prize! Very predictable, characters under-developed, jokes rely on over used gags rather than being clever. So many long over-dramatic pauses that I thought it was never going to be over! Beautiful set that is definitely not used to advantage. Actors had poor diction and sporadic accents which made dialogue very difficult to understand. Fight sequence was obviously carefully planned and staged rather than being spontaneous.

    Loved it!

I went on my 17 year old daughter's recommendation having seen it in NYC. I loved it and I don't usually do drama. We were very happy!

The subject matter was difficult but the show itself was wonderful. The play handled the subject matter very well. The first act was a little long.
