Love 'em, but a minor disappointment

by PM1960 on 10/11/16Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

This was the third time I've seen this wonderful band in the last 4 years, and they never disappoint (but read on). This concert, they celebrated the 20th anniversary of their "1977" album, so it was nice hearing tunes they hadn't performed in the previous shows I saw them at (both also in Brooklyn). They have a nice warm rapport with the audience; we 'get' them and they 'get' us. It's all great. My lone (but significant) disappointment: Each time I've seen them, as wonderful a bassist (and entertaining as always) as Mark Hamilton is, for whatever reason they always amp up his parts so loud that you literally can't hear Tim Wheeler's vocals much of the time. I gather that's intentional; not sure why. One possibility may be that each time I've seen them, I've stood right up front; perhaps Tim's vocals fly right over my ears? Not sure - would love to read other reviewers if they choose to respond to my one (I don't even want to use this word, but ...) complaint.

    Amazing Ash

by SP92 on 10/10/16Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Unbelievable performance in a great venue. Tim Wheeler shredded on guitar in a cozy Brooklyn music hall. It was perfect

I've been listening to Ash for approximately half my life. Finally getting to see them live was worth the suspense. Brilliant precision combines with impressive rock moves to make for quite the spectacle. This is a band only getting better and more confident with time.

Ash played a great set to a small, but enthusiastic crowd.

    Ash at the Bowery

by rhagy on 11/24/12Bowery Ballroom - New York

Pretty nice venue, was easy to get cab home not so easy to get cab to Bowery. Nice place, nice staff very good bands well except for the first one it was ok. The music was deafening and for my aging ears I think I lost some more hearing.
