It was our first time seeing them and we absolutely loved the show! Incredibly talented musicians! We can't wait to see hem again!
Their Sugarloaf Mountain concert was so fab! My husband and I truly enjoyed the show. We also say a heartfelt "THANK YOU" for having us sing with you "We Shall Overcome" sang by Martin Luther King during his march. It was in honor of the 9 fallen victims of that horrific shooting in SC. Fabulous show, we'd go to it again. Very fun watching the acting invoived also! Hats off to you!
Vocals&hammered dulcimer tops!Moderator is meek, awkward, stilted.More spark would brighten show, light way for glowing future. :)
The artistry presented by Apollo's Fire in Come to the River was a delight. Amazing musicians and singers, with an enjoyable story line that wove together historical songs. Highly recommend it!
I've been a Jaroussky fan for 4 years & this was my 1st time seeing him in concert. He was just amazing. I hope he would come back to the west coast again soon. We loved Apollo's Fire.
It was a wonderful evening of baroque music. Nice selection of music that was well played. Philippe Jaroussky was spectacular. He has a phenomenal voice and sings with great taste. UCLA on the other hand is a terrible place for a concert. Parking was very expensive and inconvenient. Traffic getting to UCLA on a Friday night was awful. This concert was scheduled next to a chaotic student/parent event which incumbered access coming and going to the concert. I was a student at UCLA so I know the campus, but it was not a fun night. I will take the Music Center area as a preference.
Missed the first half due to heavy traffic but thoroughly enjoyed Handel and Vivaldi Fireworks and Philippe Jaroussky's dynamic voice plus the Harpsichord playing by Jennette Sorrell. First time back in Royce Hall since student days.
Philippe Jaroussky, the great counter-tenor of the 21st century, was in superb voice for his concert at UCLA. A generous program: 7 arias and encores. Respectful silence from a captivated audience: no coughing, rustling of papers, etc. Standing ovations, this time, were deserved. Monsieur Jaroussky has a sublime messa di voce, clean and articulate passagework, a great sense of style and line, and extreme beauty of tone. In my opinion, the best counter-tenor performing today. Bravo!! His recordings are marvelous indeed, but to hear him live, and in his prime, was a treat. Apollo's Fire Baroque Orchestra also provided extreme satisfaction with extraordinary precision and beauty of playing.
This was one of the greatest concerts I have ever attended. If you've never experienced the Monteverdi vespers, you are missing out.
