It seems reinvention is a large part of the artistry of Mars Volta, et al. It is brave to disband an arena act to get back to the people and play to the hard core fans. Intense and funny version of Providence, really working the crowd mentally and emotionally. Bravo. Only quibble: did not play Drown All Your Witches.
The whole show was incredible, starting with the opening act Le butcherettes, Teri Gender-Benders band. Teri as always full of energy and funky dance moves, had all of the crowd's attention, not to mention how awesome the bad ass drummer chick was! ANTEMASQUE was amazing! Cedric and Omar still got it! They almost played a full set of their new album and even had a sick like 10 min jam for Providence. I will definitely be attending any other show ANTEMASQUE has in NYC.
Cedric and Omar were at the top of their game. intense. blew me away. still have chills. and le butcherettes have got a new loyal fan right here. amazing show. just wish it was a bit longer
