Phenomenal!!
by kmajeed on 5/17/11Lincoln Theatre - WashingtonThis was an an unforgettable show. The Andalusian and Cretan musics are authentic and will be enjoyed by people from those regions, however you do not have to be a fan of either to enjoy this show. I myself am Greek but I brought with me a friend who had never heard either types of music and she enjoyed it as much as I did. This is not your typical modern fusion where each type of music must sacrifice something in order to melt with the other kinds, each style of music stands on its own as it is, and rather the two musics coexist, sometimes blending into one beautiful beautiful melody. My favorite aspect of this show is that it aims to be multicultural by sharing the similarities that so obviously exist all over the Mediterranean. Beautiful music, beautiful dancers and a beautiful idea. Obviously I loved this event. Were this show to return to the Washington DC area I would see it again without hesitation. I wish that the musicians would put out an album of the show. The Greek violinist was incredible!! The Greek and Spanish vocalists had each beautiful and powerful voices. Every single participant in this show was a true master of their craft. I can count on one hand how many shows I have seen in which every single participant in the act was as talented as these. If you have any interest in Greek or Spanish music, you MUST see this show. If you are looking for something different, come see this show. If you appreciate talented musicians and true artists, come see this show. You will not regret it.
