What an amazing evening with the TSO and the featured band (?). Listening to all of the old Pink Floyd favorites with the richness of the Symphony and a great lead band was a great way to spend the evening! We highly recommend this concert to anyone who enjoyed the songs of Pink Floyd. It was well worth every penny!
This show was FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC! Tucson Symphony and the rock bank together honoring the music of Pink Floyd was Outstanding with their rendition.
First, I love Pink Floyd's music. Second, I love--or am impressed--by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra's performances. I don't think I was out of line to expect that a night of Pink Floyd music by the TSO would have been just that: orchestral arrangements of Floyd music. When we saw the stage setup and realized that a rock band would be literally 'out front', I thought it could be interesting, but when it became obvious that this would be a rock band concert, with the TSO a very distant backup group, I was disappointed. To further the disappointment, the lead singer's nonsensical BS with other band members, the audience, and himself was annoying and detracted greatly from the overall experience. He should have been muzzled. The rock band was terrific; the singing, even by Mr. Motormouth, was wonderful; the Orchestra, alas, was virtually unheard throughout and deserved better.
I have never attended this type of event with a full orchestra... I was not sure what to expect. It was a great show . The Fox Theatre is an outstanding venue. I will and already have recommended this to friends . I will definitely keep looking for the next show.
