Show was really good, the event SUCKED
by JorChick on 10/18/11Reliant Arena - HoustonLet me start off by saying Amr Diab is my favorite artist, and the only celebrity I actually care enough to go see live at a concert. That being said, the event's organization and his attitude were very disappointing. We arrived at 7:15, got a drink, got to our seats, and had a little conversation with the people around us until 8:00 rolled up, nothing. 8:30, nothing. 9:00, nothing, 9:30, nothing. 10:00, an alright DJ comes on stage with two cute Go Go dancers- not strippers unlike what one reviewer stated- which entertained the crowd for 30 short minutes then guess what? NOTHING for 30 more minutes until the band set up and Amr Diab came to stage, THREE HOURS LATE!! Now here's the thing, a persian singer or DJ cancelled a couple of weeks before the event so I understand things came up, BUT they had a good two week period to figure out how they were going to fill up the time. To make matters worse, Amr Diab didn't even apologize for keeping us waiting for the longest 3 hours of our lives, and me and my friends were supposed to attend a birthday party around 11:30 that night, which of course we failed to do. NOW THE ICING ON THE CAKE: They advertised a (AMR DIAB AFTER PARTY) at the concert and we ended up going there, and of course, Amr Diab didn't even make an appearance!!! To their credit, they didn't specifically say that he would show up, but I mean common dude it was so implied that he would when you name it the Amr Diab after party, and advertise it on a slideshow at the man's concert! Overall, his live singing sounded exactly like the recorded version, and he kept the show going, but I expected much more from the superstar that I grew up listening to.
