    Awesome

by KriB on 6/3/13Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I saw Amon at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. He performed a DJ set rather than the crazy ISAM show that everyone raves about. I read some negativity about his DJ shows right here on Ticketmaster reviews so I was kind of skeptical about seeing him myself. If you like EDM I can't see how anyone could have disliked what I saw. He really threw it down with great intensity, he even got so into it that he knocked over his equipment twice! The crowd was definitely into it too. Great time, especially suited for a small venue for the loudness.

Amon should perform dj sets in his garage

by 1320Fan on 3/5/13The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Doing strictly dj sets is not Amons fort Fortae it was unrefined and seemed like he was still testing his beats which should be taken care of before putting on a show. Additionally, crowd was super bunk at the Fonda. A lot of wierd old people. Crowd never really got into it. I've seen openers who have taken dumps on Tobins "headlining performance". Such as Tycho who opened for STS9 2 days later at the Palladium.

Amon Tobin in a very intimate setting

by 509er on 3/4/13The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Went into this show expecting Amon Tobin's performance with boxes. Unfortunately, it was simply him performing a DJ set. That being said, it was really cool to see him in such a small venue. It gave the set a more intimate feeling without large crowds where everyone is bunched up together. This is a great way to really hear Amon Tobin's music without the distractions of a big, commercial environment. It equates to an acoustic performance.

    Disappointing set

by TheJayJay on 3/2/13The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Way too short overall. Tame opening. Amon's music is great, but never reached the sort of peak heights that one hopes for with his music. Without the visuals of ISAM...it just didn't achieve greatness. And while the venue is amazing to play at...there needed to be better lighting overall to help build atmosphere.

    Forgettable - wanted a refund!

by SkipAmonTobin on 3/2/13The Fonda - Los Angeles

The show was pathetic. Uninspired. Really bad...in fact depressing. Please note: I'm not some kind of negative naysayer - with nothing better to do than to diss a show...but I had to comment on this one. 10 minutes into the set and no one was dancing - except one poor soul in the front row waving his arm around (probably on crank). Uber-minimal lighting and no displays. Be clear on this - if you think those great visuals will be behind Amon at his dj set - they wont. Nope! Just him standing there - barely moving - tucked under his baseball cap - on a blacked out stage. So it's no surprise that the audience was just standing there too (not in awe mind you) but waiting for something (anything) to happen. No shouts from the crowd, no whistles, just nothing. Far worse than a snooze-fest...it was downright sad. The music he was spinning was a forced pairing of trance and hip-hop - an audio nightmare that sounded like mud pouring out of the speakers. It was loud and garbled (not deep and crisp). We left before it ended...couldn't take more. For those of you who were there and liked the set - ya simply gotta get out more! I've been around the world in pursuit of great music, electronica, dj's, etc. I met my wife in Ibiza (in 2000)...and I'm no rookie to the scene. Just this month I've seen Lee Foss, Porter Robinson, Calvin Harris, Freq Nasty and even Ellie Gouldiing to mix things up. Let me tell you - if you've got 25 bucks eating a hole in your pocket - skip the next Amon Tobin dj set and get yourself a nice meal - then go see a real show down the road...you'll be glad you did. Don't believe me? I took a photo...notice the one hand in the air in the front. Sigh...

Pure Filth and Amon Tobin working it out

by Laruski on 3/2/13The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

WHen they say a DJ set for someone like Amon Tobin and the tickets cost around $20 you have to figure he's working on new material. That didn't occur to me until around 20 minutes into his set. Nevertheless, I think he's great. The opening act, someone I'd never heard of, was pretty good and the sets were a reasonable length.

Amon Tobin - Space of sound

by RoccoV on 11/15/12Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

Amon Tobin's creation is out of this world. It is a phenomenal journey through visual and audio energy manifest in spectacular choreography unlike any I have ever seen. While it is heavily digital, it is somehow experienced as so natural and fluid. The images and the sounds interlace with perfection. And I mean much more than just good timing or that the noises provide a sound-track to the video displayed across the mosaic of boxes. No, it goes to another level. Truthfully, it is indescribable. You have to sink your ears into the music, sink your eyes into the field of images, and allow the two to merge in a harmony that has not been done before. Then you will know...

    Amon Tobin: A Stunning spectacle!!

by RickusAurelius on 10/19/12The Greek - Los Angeles

Amon Tobin: Isam 2.0 live was AMAZING! It's visually stunning, and his beats are ridiculous! One of the best shows that I've ever been to in my life. I can't wait to see him again!!

ISAM is the show but more more more

by AbbasElTihish on 10/17/12Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

would be great. There were lots more than just the recent album/production "ISAM", performed in the 2 long encores. Amon Tobin played for almost 2.5 hours, which is impressive by a one man show and for the venue itself. Of course, as with electronic music, the show is the thing otherwise you'd listen to it at home. And the show was great (there is no camera shake in the attached pictures. Try to see Tobin in the clear tetris part-looking glass. The glass there would turn on with light during the show and Tobin's mixing booth would disappear.) Before each encore, he came out to great the viewers--the first time in a space suit. Quantum physicists, mathematicians, after-hour party-goers and the man selling beer at the stand enjoyed this show, among others that napped to due to heavy drinking. No one should every miss Tobin live.
