    BBQ at The Kingdom

by DHarp on 10/7/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

First time attending the American Royal World Series of BBQ & it was a wonderful day. The atmosphere was like a fall festival & the Big & Rich concert was fantastic!

    Aerican Royal BBQ

by dldn on 10/6/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

I was very disappointed that the Big and Rich concert was not in Arrowhead. There was no information given about bringing chairs and no where to set except stand during the concert. The food vendors items were very expensive. I will say that having the BBQ gave the participants added space. I did think the concert started a bit late in the evening. Would I go again? NO!

    It was ok

by Amps8847 on 10/6/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

The tickets are ok, but with $20 for parking it is not a good value for the money. The only thing you get for the price of admission and parking is the opportunity to spend more money. Food prices were ok but beverages were highway robbery. There was no schedule published and therfore we had no idea what to go see. I wouldn't spend the money on it again.

    American Royal BBQ

by Anonymous on 10/6/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

The event was great but it was a real pain trying to find out when the headliner concert was to begin and who were and when the other bands would play.

    Much ado about nothing

by disappointedBBQfan on 10/6/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

Went in to see BBQ teams, and to eat some great BBQ. The teams have no time for the public -- they're busy competing. Little or no BBQ available for the pubic to eat. Walked my ass off and was so bored by the whole thing that I left before the concert.

    New venue, still great fun

by BluesfanKC2014 on 10/5/15Arrowhead Stadium - Kansas City

Though I miss the one, contiguous location, this is still a great event. I wish the tents weren't spread over parking lots on opposite sides of Arrowhead - just made it impossible to walk around everywhere, So we stayed on "our side" and still had plenty to see and do. Fortunately, we had a couple tents on our side to attend.Though we never got near another tent on the other side of Arrowhead. Three downsides: (1) Parking. Entrance mishandled. We entered at Gate 4, and only 2 booths open. Slowed access greatly. Unnecessary bottleneck created. And, not clear where to park - saw people parking on grass but couldn't really tell whether to park there or not (we should have, would have been closer). And, parking in grass allowed to almost block entrance to grassy areas - should have made those people park futher back. (2) Maps/orgainization/"addresses" of tents not clear. Great to have maps. I am a great map reader, but these were VERY hard to follow because no direction/orientation provided. We searched for half-hour to find one tent. Unaccptable. Mark a direction, or some landmarks, or something. And worse, many tents (including one we struggled to find) did not have numbers posted. All tents shoud prominently display number. and end of each row should show tents in that row. Last but not least, numbering of the tents appeared to make no sense. E.g., 820 was nowhere near 819!?! Very odd, confusing, & frustrating. (3) Entrance not handled well. We had tickets from online. We stood in a crowd trying to enter without any idea if we were in the right place. Fortuniately we guessed correclty but this should not be left to guesswork. POST A SIGN: Enter here if already purchased tickets and sign to show where to buy tickets. Also, should have used some "snaking" of lines or crowd control so there was some organization and less confusion with entry.

    UPHA

by Drovealongwayforthis on 11/19/12Kemper Arena - Kansas City

Venue was good. Vendor turn out was lackluster. Amount of entries was sad along with amount of spectators. I took a "newbie" to the show and was a little embarrassed that my expectations did not pan out.

    Up In Smoke!

by Champagne1 on 10/9/12American Royal Complex - Kansas City

We were very disappointed. We thought we were going to be able to taste (buy samples) the various BBQ as we walked along and admired everyone's set up & cooking. We paid an admission fee for the privilege of having vendors sell their products to us. As we walked among the contestants, most were not even available to talk with. We did manage to chat with a couple, but they assured us that the only BBQ we could get (purchase) was at a couple of food stands. It was cold (not your fault) and after seeing a cooking demo and one done by Guy Fieri, we left. It was a total waste of time.
