About

Almost Queen on Tour

An Almost Queen show is a mix of theater, history, costumes, chops, nostalgia, harmonies, some of the most popular songs of all time and, of course, one iconic mustache. Intensely devoted, Almost Queen perform Queen's beaming four-part harmonies, blasting out faithful renditions of hits like "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "We Are the Champions," "Under Pressure," "Radio Ga Ga," "Don't Stop Me Now" and the occasional deeper cut. They even do a live rendition of the baroque, operatic bridge of "Bohemian Rhapsody," something Queen themselves did not perform without some recording assistance. Emerging from New York in 2005, this tribute band have brought Queen's canon of triumphant arena songs to the intimate settings of clubs and theaters — not to mention stops in Peru, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Trinidad.

Almost Queen in Concert

Billing their act as "THE most authentic Queen live show since the days of Queen themselves," Almost Queen came not from England but from New York, keeping the legacy of Freddie Mercury and Queen alive in sound and vision. More than just Queen fans, many members of Almost Queen have serious performance bona fides. Joseph Russo (who performs as vocalist Freddie Mercury) toured as the lead in a European production of Hair. The other members — Steve Leonard (as guitarist Brian May), Randy Gregg (as bassist John Deacon) and John Cappadona (as drummer Roger Taylor) — have résumés that individually feature them touring or playing with hard rock artists like Thin Lizzy, Angel, Lauren Harris and Twisted Sister's Dee Snider. The band have appeared on Jim Breuer's Sirius radio show and were the subject of "Queen: Keeping the Spirit of Freddie Alive," an episode of the series Tribute Bands airing on E! in Canada. Iconic rock fan Howard Stern even once quipped, "These guys are even better than the Queen that's out there touring."

    Would go again!

by MAR-TAY on 3/5/24Packard Music Hall - Warren

If I am being 100% honest, the first half hour was one of the band members own music, and it was okay. That guy can play a guitar! As for Almost Queen, the lead singer was spot on and I would definitely go see again! Especially for the drummer, he was out of this world amazing! His solo was unlike I have ever seen. #goals Would definitely go see this band again!

    Almost queen

by JDP on 3/4/24Packard Music Hall - Warren

I’ve seen a few different queen tribute bands throughout the last few years but none are as entertaining or authentic as almost Queen. Not only do they replicate, reproduce to an unbelievable level the true queen experience as seen during the Queen rocks tour they mix in other deeper album cuts that as a true queen fan I really appreciate every band member gets a chance to show the great individual talents the band has. Highly recommend almost Queen as the number one tribute band.period

    Eh…

by AJ on 3/4/24Packard Music Hall - Warren

First half hour was the guitar players music…not who we came to see. The a half hour intermission. Then Almost Queen…saw them 12 years ago, and they were good. Lead singer has lost the “Freddy” sound.

    Opening Act Ruined the show

by Anthony N on 3/4/24Packard Music Hall - Warren

The opening act was horrible and hard to listen to. Almost Queen did not take the stage til 9:00pm so get to the show appropriately.

    Almost great

by Kathi on 3/4/24Packard Music Hall - Warren

They acted as a warm up band with their own songs for 30 minutes. Didn't pay to see this. After a break they were fabulous.

Good while they were actually doing Queen songs

by Paula on 3/4/24Packard Music Hall - Warren

Some of the band’s members were the opening act. That wasn’t advertised. They were mediocre. Then they took a 30 minute break. During the show, the drummer did a 10 minute solo which was 7 minutes too long. They were good when singing Queen songs.

    Queen Rocks

by Star on 3/4/24Packard Music Hall - Warren

Had a good time but was disappointed with the opening act. As for Queen, it was excellent and I would recommend it to others. The Queen act would definitely get 5 stars.

    Mind blowing

by Nate F on 2/26/24The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

I never saw Almost Queen before. Heard a lot about them for a couple of years already. Since Queen was my all time favorite band. I thought I would be disappointed to recreate perfection, but these guys came very, very close. Since I've been to a number of Queen concerts, these guys, particularly the singer had all the mannerisms as Freddie which made it great. Voice can never be up to Freddie, but this guy was great even sol Very much enjoyed PS Super Trans Am was excellent too
