ALLISON WEISS IN CONCERT:

LA-based indie pop ingénue Allison Weiss has become a poster child for internet-age success, leveraging sites like Kickstarter and YouTube to amass an ever-growing following. Her no-frills, confessional style is a perfect extension of these highly accessible platforms, offering fans an unfiltered look at her emotions and the mechanisms behind her songwriting. In concert she wears her heart on her sleeve, delivering her songs with honesty and confidence while her backing band rocks on guitar, bass, and drums. Whether she’s performing originals like “I Was an Island” or covering artists like MGMT and Robyn, Weiss brings infectious energy and plenty of catchy tunes to every stage she plays.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Athens, GA-born Allison Weiss began playing the guitar at age 14 to impress a high school crush. The romance was short-lived, but her career as a singer-songwriter was just getting started. After studying graphic design in college she started uploading covers to YouTube, and before long she'd built a loyal online following. In 2009 she started a Kickstarter campaign to fund her full-length debut album, meeting her goal overnight and tripling it over the course of 2 months. That success led to press coverage in the New York Times and Wired, which further boosted her growing fanbase. From February 2012 to January 2013 she recorded a song each month for the monthly song series Teenage Years. After that she toured Europe with Lou Reedand  the US with Candy Hearts, and released the 2014 EP Remember When. With her highly anticipated fourth album Winter generating buzz in 2015, Weiss has ticket buyers eagerly awaiting her upcoming performances.

Allison Weiss writes some pretty catchy songs. Seeing her play with a bass and drum backing band was great. She rocked hard and the band (two members of The Winter Sounds) didn't miss a beat.
