    Best ever!

by MissJacksonville on 12/16/14Ritz Theatre - Jacksonville

Allen Toussaint came on strong in his gold foiled jacquard red suit! He came bearing gifts as well - an entire bag full of Mardi Gras goodies that he threw out to the adoring crowd. He gave a very animated concert - full of his well loved songs, interspersed with tidbits of his life. The Ritz Theatre is small and everyone was able to get a good view of the stage. Allen Toussaint also was very gracious and joined the crowd after the concert for photos and signings. A must see!

AlLLEN TOUSSAINT & THE PRESERVATION HALL JAZZ BAND

by gsparky on 11/19/14The Belly Up - Solana beach

I have seen Allen many times in New Orleans at small clubs and at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. This show was much different in that he shared the stage with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band who I have also seen at the N.O Jazz Festival a few times. I think both are very talented but The show was a bit confusing for my senses. I was expecting PHJB to open then Allen to close yet Allen only played a few songs alone in the middle of the concert. Just when I was getting in the grove of his piano and singing the PHJB came on. Now again I love both but I really would of enjoyed Toussaint at the piano alone for a longer portion of the show

Both my wife and I think that this was the best show we can remember seeing in many, many years. A great time!

    Great Show!

by RoundhouseKick on 5/30/13Royce Hall - Los Angeles

There was a really good dynamic and energy between Toussaint and his four-piece band...just drums, bass, piano and electric guitar/trombone/clarinet. The song set was comprised of many of Toussaint's most well-known songs from over the past four or five decades of his prolific career. His voice was smooth and soulful, and his piano-playing was mind-blowing and seemlessly switched between styles and tempo changes. Dirty Dozen Brass Band was great opener that had the place doing a second line up and down the aisles.

    Amazing concert !!!

by woody91205 on 2/22/13Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

Dirty Dozen Brass Band was great to get you into the mood but Allen Toussaint was just gorgeous - what a fantastic band! Everyone was top notch in their own rights! Good to hear the classic Toussaint numbers - but the highlight was everything from 'Bright Mississippi' Looking forward to their next album.

    What an incredible musician!

by JanandJeff on 2/19/13Royce Hall, UCLA - Los Angeles

We saw Allen Toussaint on TV and knew that we had to see him live. And he was so amazing! He is a consumate musician, with a command of the piano keyboard that you rarely get to see. His soul and love of music radiates from his quiet nature and beautiful renditions. This is a performer not to be missed and should be on your bucket list. Mt. Toussaint's fellow musicians included very accompllished bass, drums, and someone that played flute, percussion, trombone, recorder, and other and interesting additions. The varying textures and emotional tembres of his music were beyond words. The opening band, The Dirty Dozen, was a great New Orleans style brass band with souzaphone, bass and tenor sax and percussion which got the Mardi Gras audience up on their feet. But when Allen took the stage, they went silent - just in awe of his performance.
