Master piamist
by jeanne55 on 2/12/14Squitieri Studio Theatre - GainesvilleIt was uplifting to watch a master (Alexander Schimpf) at work. He chose pieces to play which were not the same old regulars, but still accessible. He played them beyond superbly. The encore was the lovely Bach piece "Sheep May Safely Graze." He explained each piece he played in a personal and audience friendly way. My daughter is an experienced pianist, and she said she felt close to tears during the Beethoven Sonata. That Sonata was 43 minutes long, and I have never spent 43 minutes that passed by so quickly. I was worried the concert would feel long, but it was over all too quickly. If you love classical piano music, even casually, you will enjoy Schimpf.
