About

ALEX CLARE IN CONCERT:

Combining jazz and blues with dubstep and funk sounds like an unconvincing jumble of genres, but soulful, innovative performer Alex Clare has a special talent for fusing unlikely inspirations together. After gaining worldwide recognition with his 2011 smash single "Too Close", the bearded Brit is tearing up the live circuit with his thrillingly creative concerts. Ticket buyers can expect an eclectic show that takes them through a roller coaster of emotions. On the one hand, Clare uses part of his setlist to strip down his performance and return to his noble singer-songwriter roots, growling tenderly about lost love. But just as seamlessly, his band churns out a surge of dancey anthems as he picks up the pace, celebrating themes like found love that always gets concertgoers on their feet. Clare's enthusiastic onstage demeanor and impressive vocal range are perfectly complimented by his band's booming, tribal-like percussions, unleashing a wonderfully unique live experience.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and bred in London, England, Alex Clare grew up engrossed in his dad's jazz and blues record collection. Before long, he developed a fascination with U.K. garage, punk rock, and funk, igniting a creative spark that would eventually earn him worldwide fame. After tinkering on the trumpet and drums as a kid, he eventually taught himself how to play piano and guitar and started performing at open mic nights in London's vibrant club scene. Clare's collection of strikingly honest songs landed him a deal with Island Records in 2010. After linking up with renowned producers Diplo and Switch, Clare unearthed a knack for pairing his soulful songwriting with heavy bass lines. The result was 2011's Lateness Of The Hour, a debut album that's rooted in blues and jazz but also borrows from dubstep and jungle funk. The Diplo-produced track "Too Close" blew up in the US thanks to featured spots in a Microsoft ad campaign and during TV coverage of the London Olympics. The song peaked at No. 4 on the UK singles chart and No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100, earning him a nomination for Best British Single at the 2013 BRIT Awards. In August 2014 Clare released his sophomore album Three Hearts, which was critically praised for its blend of alt-rock jams and power pop anthems.

    Such an amazing show!!

by anocst on 1/5/15Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

I loved every minute of this! Alex Clare quietly slipped out to the bar area before the show even started and said hi to a few fans! The openers were great!!! I love that they were new artist because I love hearing new people. When Alex got on stage he was amazing!!! It was just incredible. I would and will see him again and again and again. This new album is great and he is an awesome performer. You could really tell he loved preforming; he was glowing like a beautiful pregnant woman (with a glorious beard :D) the whole time he was on stage. During the song three hearts, some people had brought props (3 paper hearts). He was so excited that they made props for his show!!!! He was so cute and you could tell he really appreciates his fans.

Opening Acts, Absolutely. Alex Clare, Not So Much

by STONEHAMGUY on 12/29/14Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Went to see Alex Clare, and left a bigger fan of Taylor Berrett and even Firekid. The venue was amazing, as it always is, but I just felt like Alex Clare lost his fastball.

Alex Clare - Sounds Better than Records LIVE

by LaLaLeopard on 12/26/14House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

2 years back, I saw Alex perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago. He was good at the outdoor fest, however, I think the intimate setting of House of Blues (as a venue) magnified the excellence is sound quality & his vocals. I only knew about 5 of his songs performed, but enjoyed all of his music that night! Sidenote - if you are really only wanting to hear his hit that put him on the map "Too Close", you will have to wait until the very end of the show. It was the last song performed of the night. He makes you wait for it. ; ) He's also interactive with the crowd, which always makes for a more personable show - It's like he talks to you like you were just a friend from around the corner. Good tunes. Good Performer.

Worth seeing on a Monday night!

by meintheatl on 12/18/14Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

I was so surprised at the small crowd. I think being a Monday night around the Holidays must have been the reason. Alex is talented with such a great voice. The guy's got soul. I would have liked the sound better at Center Stage, but the Loft was more intimate. I'd recommend his show and would go again.

Alex Clare is definitely better live than recorded!! Loved his interaction with the audience as well! Such a great show! His opening act, Taylor Berrett, was also so fun to watch. Very talented guy and very humble.

    Terrific show!

by Blackbird419 on 12/14/14House of Blues Houston - Houston

Alex played everything I wanted to hear and then some. We had a great view of the stage. His band members played tremendously; his voice boomed and rose and moved me. What truly got me, though, is what a nice guy he is! He walked the queue before the show, chatting with fans, and afterward signed autographs and posed, cheerfully, with dozens of us. Just a super, super nice guy, with a terrific voice, literally and figuratively. Fantastic evening! And his opener, Taylor Berrett, was great too!

    Alex Clare Is THE MAN!

by StaticAvengerCP on 12/12/14House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

Man, where do I start!? This concert was amazing. Alex has a voice that carries and is powerful. He seems pretty soft spoken and then he opens his mouth and this voice just SCREAMS!!! This man has some talent. We had standing general admissions tickets and we were right at the front by the stage. The view was perfect and Alex seemed to love what he was doing. Smiling the whole time.
