About

AGES AND AGES IN CONCERT:

Portland indie rock outfit Ages and Ages brings a burst of positivity to the stage every time they perform their gospel-influenced tunes. The upbeat octet combines buoyant melodies, soaring guy-girl harmonies, jangly guitars, exotic percussion, and driving drums to perfect pop effect, treating fans to a feel-good concert experience that gets every last toe in the room tapping. For their 2016 album Something to Ruin the band added synths and drum machines to their pallet, and the new direction plays out beautifully in concert as they mix live instrumentation with electronic textures. A message of optimism and perseverance permeates  Ages and Ages' music, and ticket can't help but get swept up in the good vibrations of favorites like "Big Idea" and "Divisionary (Do The Right Thing)" whenever the band radiates their sunny sound in concert.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Ages and Ages formed in Portland in 2009 and found a fast following among the city's burgeoning art and music scene. They released their debut album Alright You Restless in 2011 and got a boost the following year when Barack Obama included their song "No Nostalgia" on his 2012 presidential campaign playlist. A feature on NPR and a powerful (and widely blogged-about) SXSW performance further boosted their profile, and in 2014 the band released their sophomore album Divisionary. The album's title track – a secular gospel tune with the repeating mantra "do the right thing" – perfectly summed up the band's ethos, and it has since become a staple of their uplifting live shows. With their third album Something to Ruin, Ages and Ages have ticket buyers eagerly awaiting the chance to experience their new sound in concert.
