About

AGAINST THE CURRENT:

New York pop punk trio Against the Current is quickly rising the ranks with their fresh sound, heart-pounding live performances, and soaring anthems like "Gravity" and "Infinity". Frontwoman Chrissy Costanza cuts an impressive figure on stage, belting out the band's powerful tunes with passion and intensity without ever breaking her effortless cool. Her two bandmates -- Dan Gow on guitar and Will Ferri on drums -- give oomph to her already-punchy performances, making for an epic concert experience fans of melodic pop punk goodness don't want to miss.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Against the Current formed in New York in 2011 when young singer Chrissy Costanza joined forces with Dan Gow and Will Ferri. The group started writing songs and posting them to YouTube, and they got their first break in 2012 when their version of "Good Time" -- a cover of the Owl City and Carly Rae Jepson song  recorded with YouTube sensation Alex Goot -- started racking up plays. The band released a string of singles in the early '10s including originals like "Thinking" and popular covers of Taylor Swift's "Red" and "Shake It Off", and in 2014 they released their debut EP Infinity. The 5-song collection was a perfect snapshot of the band's unique sound, drawing praise from critics and building excitement among ticket buyers for Against the Current's next round on the road.

One of the best concerts I've ever been to.

    by J. M. on 6/19/23

I went to see ATC in Dallas, TX, a few months ago for the first time ever after supporting them online for a long time, and I can honestly say even after 2+ months, I am STILL living off the hype of the concert!! They toured with Trophy Eyes and Yours Truly. I will say, I did NOT like Trophy Eyes as they had a mosh pit and someone crowed surfed, who, thankfully, was promptly thrown out by security because someone got hit in the head (they were fine thankfully) and I feel like that kind of behavior, the mosh pit and crowd surfing is more of an outdoor activity. I got the Meet and Greet package, which, wasn't too expensive but it would've been nicer to be a little cheaper, and it was worth it! We got a lot of cool VIP merch, like a custom bag, a signed lanyard, and some stickers. I LOVED that being subbed to their discord got you an exclusive pin which was really well designed! I do wish each band came back out after the concert and did signings or did signings for VIP before or after the show, but there's always next time. They were super nice to talk too, even with my anxiety preventing me from talking more to them, but I hope to see them again one day! The energy they present was one of the best things ever. While it didn't feel like family to me, they at least gave off a "good friend" presentation. I absolutely will be going back to an ATC concert!!

We came all the way from Montreal to Boston for this show. Was worth it. Hoping they will come somewhere closer now.

    Great overall experience

by sparkyyyyyy on 5/9/23Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

First off, I'm a long time ATC fan so I'll admit to some bias there but I think they always put on simple yet really fun shows. Heading the two new songs (their first they did themselves) was amazing. It truly feels like they are starting to find their sound now, even though I've always loved their work before too. I saw them four years ago and it was one of my favorite concerts at the time. This show solidified me as a life long fan. Also, there was an incredible moment during the set where Taylor Swift entered the conversation. The resulting interaction was amazing and they put it on their TikTok. This was my first time at the Varsity Theater and I was really impressed. The overall vibe was incredible. The sound was great. I'll definitely be checking it out more. As for the openers: I had a passing familiarity with Yours Truly so was interested to see how they were live. Unfortunately whoever did the audio mix kinda screwed them. You really couldn't hear anything over the drummer. Which was a shame because the energy was there and when you could hear the vocalist, she sounded good. I had no idea who Trophy Eyes were beforehand. Apparently, they are a more old school punk rock band. I got serious Andrew W.K. vibes from there lead. I didn't really gel with it but I could see others definitely did.

    Great night

by T on 5/3/23Ace of Spades - Sacramento

The line was well organized and scanning of tickets was quick. Merch line was right near the main area of the venue. Bathroom was clean and staff was real professional. You got the bars and then the main stage area with plenty of room to stand. The sound was amazing. What's also very nice is they have a walkway that's patrolled by staff and kept clear for access whenever. It was a great experience and I would totally come again to Ace of Spades!
