    amazing

by CamK13 on 5/21/1720th Century Theater - Cincinnati

one of the best shows I've seen in my life, there's something about watching someone perform who is genuinely having a good time and enjoying what they do.

    Belew in Cincy

by SharonvilleMike on 5/21/1720th Century Theater - Cincinnati

I expected good. I was stunned! Unbelievable musicianship! Julie, on bass, and Tobias, on drums were riveting. I often realized that I was forgetting to watch Adrian Belew. The cohesive technicality of incredibly difficult starts and stops were amazing. I will never miss this show again!

Adrian Belew is Better Than Ever!

by LudwigDrummer on 12/26/1420th Century Theater - Cincinnati

Adrian Belew Power Trio put on a Fabulous show in Cincinnati December 21, 2012. The trio was energetic and belted out tune after tune all evening long. New tunes, old tunes, they all were great! It was good to see fans from all ages enjoy the show. My most disappointing time of the night: I called the theatre a few weeks ago and was told there would be no seats at the show, just stand up. As my wife can't stand up that long, I gave her ticket away. I walk in the place and there are chairs all over the floor! Long lines for a miniscule restroom and no parking available as well

    Adrian Belew

by blackhole777 on 12/10/14Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

Phenomenal show! Hands down the best "Rock" / experimental guitarist on the planet. It was akin to what seeing Hendrix in the 60's would have been. Extreme extended-techniques and a brilliant conception. The Trio was tighter than RUSH in a tourniquet. Adrian Belew loves what he does and it shows. If you liked his work in King Crimson, then you will love him in this role. He stretches out MUCH much more than in KC. My other fave is Jeff Beck, whom I saw in July, however (hate to say it) this show blew the Beck show away. Go see Adrian at your first chance. Venue was cool except for the drink prices and the perpetual advertising on the TV's. The TV's are not a good addition. Sound guy was a bit off in his attention to detail.

Too Much Volume and Distortion in a Small Venue

by Anonymous on 11/22/14Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

I am a real fan of Adrian Belew's work and his performance was energetic and masterful. However, the Talking Stick Resort's Showroom was way too small for the volume level of the music to the point where Belew's vocals were unclear and distorted. It was as if they failed to do a proper soundcheck prior to the concert. I have heard other concerts in this venue and the sound was excellent, so I am puzzled as to how they messed up this concert.

    great talent inconsistant sound mix

by cyberboof on 11/21/14Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

As a devoted fan of Adrian Belew and his long, exciting, innovative and quirky trail of work, it is always a pleasure to just be in the same room with this immensely charismatic performer. Adrian did not disappoint nor did his chosen, Julie Slick and Tobias Ralph. Constant energy through the endless and seamless medley of his work...replete with meter changes and complex rhythms and ever present Belew antics. I was in the balcony of the Talking Stick venue. To its credit, from the perspective of view, it is a beautifully laid out house with scarcely a bad seat. Here is the "but", however. A prerequisite of a power trio is volume and this bunch are not shy about cranking the decibels. However, when the mix is off, you sometimes reach a point when it become impossible to discern parts and this was especially true of the vocals for a fair amount of the experience. To often the sense of individual musical phase in counterpoint was lost in aloud disconcerting reverb. Add to the poor mix and iffy acoustics the fact that Adrian loves a bit of distortion from time to time, much of the musicality and artistic brilliants was lost. Perhaps it was partially the balcony and the basic acoustics of the venue. My feeling is that the sound guys just missed the mark for this space on this night. Regardless, the show was enjoyable for the most part and my love of this performer transcended all of the acoustical shortcomings.

    Superb musicians, horrible sound

by norockets on 11/21/14Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

The performance was five-star - Adrian Belew is a true virtuoso and the bass player and drummer are superb as well. The interaction between the band while playing was great. However, the sound mix was absolutely horrible. It was trebly and muddled and just plain awful. I sat in the front row just to the right of Belew with the drummer to my right for the first set - I could hear the guitar and drums, but no bass or vocals. I moved back to Row G for the second set thinking I would hear a more complete sound. Still couldn't hear the bass, the guitar was up and down in the mix as were the vocals. What a shame to pay so much to hear a great musician/band and not be able to hear most of it. Adrian Belew does so much with tonality and intricate riffs that I was really disappointed to not hear most of it. I could see the bass player making intricate runs up and down the neck and was not able to hear any of it. I will never go to a show at this venue again. That's why I ended up giving it a one star review, yet I would recommend seeing Adrian Belew to a friend - just not at Talking Stick Showroom.

    Fantastic guitar play!

by Anonymous on 11/21/14Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

Belew was as good as expected and better, played a few King Crimson songs, but mostly, his albums. Unfortunately, sound system was mediocre or worse. No reason to have sound that is so muddy, could not hear voice or the bass. All notes were jumbled except the loud guitar (which I did not mind). Seating was also mediocre, wish the venue was different. If repeat performance in the valley held at different location, will certainly buy tickets. He is as good a musician as they come, fun performer.
