About

Over 40 Acrobats of China bring the Orient to Branson in a fast-paced, exciting production featuring internationally award-winning acts.  The New Shanghai Circus celebrates the exotic wonders of China while showcasing dramatic interpretation of classic Chinese dance and physical performance art.  Featuring spectacular backdrops, beautiful costuming, and state-of-the-art lighting, this show is a thrill a minute!

The New Shanghai Circus presents a revolving line-up of favorite acts such as Diablo (Chinese Yo-Yo), Bicycle Tricks, Pole Climbing, Russian Bar, Aerial Fish Ballet, Adagio, Plates Spinning, Magic Clock, Roller Skating, Handstand Art, Human Top, Chair Stack and more.  Each year, the troupe adds new performers who have won national and international competitions.  The show combines extraordinary and inventive feats of strength and skill, control and balance.

Considered to be China's most celebrated acrobatic company, the performers of the New Shanghai Circus have stunned audiences all over the world.  This year's entourage includes a full-time cook, several coaches, teachers, technicians, a propmaster, a carpenter, a costume designer and other staff members.  They've joined their talents to create a fast-paced production that brings the Orient to Branson!

The New Shanghai Theatre was specially designed to accommodate this unusual and elaborate production, as well as to integrate the ancient history of China with modern Chinese architectural style.  The new theatre features cascading waterfalls, Chinese gardens, rare chiming stones, and a sculpture of Chinese Bronze Ware approximately 3,500 years old.

The New Shanghai Circus was founded in 1991 as a touring company from its parent troupe, the Shanghai Magic Troupe in Shanghai, China.  It's been an upward spiral ever since with more than 80 tours around the world including a 1998 stint on Broadway with 28 sold out performances - and it now finds a permanent second home in Branson, Missouri!

Acrobatics have a 2,500-year history in China.  Developed from everyday life and work the early acrobatic skills presented in village harvest festivals have now evolved into one of China' national treasures.  Building on traditional performances, today's artists have added new techniques and spectacular stunts, thrilling audiences around the globe.  Highly skilled, rigorously trained, and superbly talented, these performers follow an unbroken tradition since 700 B.C.

East meets West at the New Shanghai Theatre in Branson.  From the moment you arrive, you're transported to another world, where anything can happen...and does.  Enjoy the Acrobats of China featuring the New Shanghai Circus in Branson!

    Performers were fanstatic

by scooted on 1/2/12The New Shanghai Theatre - Branson

The Shanghai Circus performers were amazing. Truely professionals in every way. Five stars go to the performers. The food served before the show would not even get one star it was worse than Poor. The food was an insult to the performers and I highly recommend that you either do away with the food or find another place to provide the food. To think that I had to pay for that is very upsetting. While we were in Branson I noticed several oriental rest. so I know at least one of them have to serve something better. The beef was like chewing leather, the fried rice was so bland it was like eating, not sure what how I would describe the taste.

    Well Worth Attending.

by WWWWXXXYYYZZ on 12/20/11The New Shanghai Theatre - Branson

The Chinese culture was represented exactly as it should be. Both my companion and I enjoyed the two male performers who did the balancing where they were in a straight line, completely horizontal. What a feat of strength and balancing that was! In addition, the ballet acts were fantastic, especially the butterfly routine. Finally, the young lady who did the one-arm balancing was very unusual and excellent. We both agreed that the sales pitch at the beginning would have been fine for the DVDs, but the other stuff in the bag came across as being kind of tacky. This is no reflection on the young lady who spoke because she was good.

    Great show but terribel seating

by TerribleSeat on 8/18/11The New Shanghai Theatre - Branson

I purchased four premium (non-discounted) tickets to see the show on a mid-week 3 P.M. show. I did this purposefully so I would not be attending a sold out show and receive poor seating. The ticket master did not allow us to choose our seats other than center or side seats. We were told they will assign us seats when we arrive at the show. When we came to the show to pickup our four tickets from the window, we were assigned the front row. I didn't know better. These seats were the worst seats possible due to looking close-up at the performers in the head-up position. (No stage perspective was possible from such close proximity to the acrobatic performers.) We were told to move to better seats once the show started by the ushers. We did so; but not part of the Branson experience I wanted to be a part of with two small children. I was told by the usher that they like to fill the center from front to back. Buyer beware. They got me. Shame on me for paying full price and receiving the less than full price seats. The good news is: lesson learned and no more future patronage.

    Well worth the money!!!

by Buddy4paws on 8/8/11The New Shanghai Theatre - Branson

This was the best thing that we saw in Branson hands down. I have an 8 yr old girl and a 15yr old boy and both loved it. My 8 yr old was on her knees clapping and whistling. We were able to get all their signatures on her parasol that we bought and she got her picture took with them. They want to see it again when we go back.
