This performance was stunningly dull. The acting was uninspired and uninspiring. Not being a huge Tennessee Williams fan, I was looking for the operatic version to freshen the tired story line. I left as emotionally beaten up as Stella was physically. Streetcar was a total waste of time.

    A Good Show

by JohnDSr on 11/4/13DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

I recommend this production as an enjoyable musical evening. The story was well known and faithfully represented the classic stage production. The music was enjoyable. No specific music left the haunting memory that you could not turn off after you left. Nothing was really memorable other than the overall experience. The performers were very good actors, a nice departure from the often lack of acting power of opera. The voices were a bit uneven, Blanche started weak and grew to a very powerful finale. The duet of Blanche & Mitch was the musical highlight. Stanley was acted very well but the singing did not excite; it enhanced the dislike for the bitter character. We were transported to the post war world where sex & power were the realm of men. The orchestra played superbly.
