    Foxy Shazam brought hell!

by Sirdoe on 10/31/12Masquerade - Atlanta

Overall the concert with Foxy Shazam will be a memorable one. They had the audience feed off their energy as the rocked. It was not a pack crowd but it was a good amount of people to enjoy a Halloween concert and party. I personally think the radio station was over hyping the event with their promotion. In the end, I would recommend a friend to check this event next year.

    Foxy Shazam

by BigShow on 10/30/12Masquerade - Atlanta

Its always admirable to witness anyone completely leave all inhibitions, self-doubt, and fear behind and just... let... go. What a feeling of relief that must bring. Now multiply that by six members and add a little arrogance and you've got Foxy Shazam. I saw them open for Slash a few months ago and couldn't resist them in a headlining position for the annual Brouhaha Halloween show at The Masquerade. I've seen my share of bands and only The Hives come close to the showmanship of this group, and they're still two completely different animals. These guys are totally off the wall. Leader Eric Nally is a two ton force in a teeny 80 pound body. His modest size must give him the ability to crash to his knees and pop right back up again dozens of times a show without injury, night after night. At one point he asked us for a cigarette, then took 5 or 6 out of the dozens thrown at him, lit them all at once in his mouth, and then ate them. I told you, off the friggin' wall. And his maniacal band mates do their best to not be outdone, to boot. But don't let the antics fool you. With crass lyrics and somewhat feminine vocals, they are musically talented with an 80s hairband sound fused with modern metal and a tinge of soul. I wasn't sure the seasoned floor of the Heaven portion of the venue could withstand the performance and the audience. Always kinda worries me when I can feel the second story floor bounce beneath me.

    Brouhaha, was a blast!

by GypsyBookgirl on 10/31/11Masquerade - Atlanta

I have always been a fan of 99x, but now I love them for throwing such a far-out party every year. It was so much fun! I missed the Sublime tribute band, but Ill Communication rocked...It was like having Mike D, MCA, and Ad-Rock right there with us. People went so above and beyond on the costumes...my favorites were a life size, handmade Gizmo and the group that did the Scooby-Doo gang plus bad guy. Lewis did a great job hosting the costume contest...I love the way he made sure everybody got at least a little appreciation. That was righteous. The DJs they had spinning in Hell were fantastic...they knew exactly how to keep the crowd moving, and the mixes were hot! What I thought was the coolest was how chill the crowd was. Everybody was so friendly. No fights, no ugliness, just a bunch a cool people having a great time together. That's what Halloween ought to be.

    Excellent music and activities

by smashingrobface on 10/31/11Masquerade - Atlanta

99X has been at this Halloween party thing for awhile, so I was a little surprised to find that the event felt understaffed. The bartenders did the best they could, but they really needed three people manning each bar rather than two--I waited ten to fifteen minutes for a beer on occasion. Having said that, I had a great time otherwise. The Sublime and Beastie Boys cover bands rocked, while the DJs put on a fantastic dancing set. The free psychic readings were fun, although it took an hour to get through the line. And the costume contest was surprisingly NOT dominated by the usual lazy, "slutty (insert profession here)" outfits. Definitely recommended for the twentysomething crowd, since there was eye candy galore, lots to do, several different environments, and a great mix of people.

Awesome venue, just need more bartenders

by Wardwes on 11/1/10Masquerade - Atlanta

Place is awesome. Loved it. Ton of people and tons of fun. I love how there were two stages with two shows going simultaneously. Only thing is, took WAY too long to get a drink. They needed many more bartenders.

    Incredible!

by SenorRomeo on 11/1/10Masquerade - Atlanta

This was my second time attending 99x's Brouhaha and yet again it was amazing. The bands were great and the costume contest could not have been more fun. My friends and I loved every second including having our fortunes told. I will definitely be attending next year.

    Costume Contest Blows!

    by AliceAbernathy2010 on 11/1/10Masquerade - Atlanta

Best costume of the night and $1,000 went to a joker in a 3 piece captain crunch suit throwing cereal at the crowd. Predator should have won, the event hosts dropped the ball. Dissapointed in the judging process of no actual judges, but the bands rocked!
