About

10cc in Concert

After making pop/rock history in the 1970s, 10cc split up in the early '80s, but a reunited version of the band fronted by co-founders Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman did a couple of tours in the mid-'90s. Then in 2002 Gouldman began making the rounds with a new lineup of 10cc, including '70s members Rick Fenn on guitar and Paul Burgess on drums. Their shows re-create the elaborate art-pop sophistication that made 10cc famous, touching on material from all across their discography. And as a bonus, their sets have also been known to include some of the hits Gouldman wrote for other artists in the '60s, pre-10cc, like The Hollies' "Bus Stop" and Herman's Hermits' "Heart Full of Soul."

10cc Background

Though most Americans probably know 10cc best for big '70s hits like "I'm Not in Love" and "The Things We Do for Love," there's much more to their story. The original lineup of guitarist Eric Stewart, guitarist/keyboardist Lol Creme, bassist/guitarist Graham Gouldman and drummer Kevin Godley came together as 10cc in 1972, all having been active in the British music scene previously. Each of the four members was a gifted singer-songwriter, and when their talents were combined, they crafted a unique brand of art pop full of hooks and eccentricities in equal amounts. They began scoring big hits in the U.K. straight out of the gate with 1972's No. 2 single "Donna." They scored a long string of British hits throughout the '70s, including "Rubber Bullets," "Art for Art's Sake," "Good Morning Judge" and "Dreadlock Holiday." Their big breakthrough in the U.S. came with the 1975 smash "I'm Not in Love," followed by another big U.S. hit the next year, "The Things We Do for Love." By that time, Godley and Creme had departed to work as a duo, while Stewart and Gouldman led the band into the early '80s. They had a revival for a couple of tours and an album in the mid '90s before Stewart led a revamped version of the band back to regular touring starting in the '00s.

    ''Freaking AWESOME !!

by Anonymous on 7/21/12The Concert Hall - New York

We were so pleased that 10cc actually made it to the USA, we had previously mentioned it on the fan page but at that time there were no plans to come here. We were thrilled to see a concert date in New York. Living in neighbouring Connecticut we were able to get a train into the city. I am a Brit living in the US and unfortunately was never able to see them back home. I have to say it was well worth the wait and hopefully one day 10CC will come back and play in our state. Well done guys ...you ... Rocked !!!

10cc is one of those bands I've never seen but always wanted to. They haven't been in the NY area in over 20 years, but well worth the wait!! Great theatre, even better show!

    What a night!

by LowT on 7/16/12The Concert Hall - New York

I've been a fan of 10cc since 1975 when I discovered The Original Soundtrack album. I never saw them back in their heyday and this was my opportunity to make that right. No regrets!! They were awesome and this venue provided for a pretty intimate experience. Graham was in fine voice and Mick Wilson's effortless tenor was simply awesome. Rick Fenn's soaring lead guitar highlighted the instrumental segments, with first rate keyboard support from Mike Stevens. Needless to say, Paul Burgess' drumming was spot on. They started off with a 40 minute acoustic set that featured tunes Graham had written earlier in his career and were done by other bands, like Bus Stop (Hollies) and For Your Love (Yardbirds). After a short break they came back with the 10cc set and opened with The Second Sitting Of The Last Supper. They dipped into numerous albums and pulled out just about every favorite of mine, with excellent renditions of all.

    10cc was great!

by DanoG on 7/15/12The Concert Hall - New York

Original band member Graham Gouldman opened up with a set of the songs that he wrote for other artists, such as the Hollies & The Yardbirds. After a short break 10cc came on & performed all of their hits mixed in with other songs from their various albums. They performed great renditions of all of their songs. They did an Encore doo wop version of their first hit song Donna.
